BAKED FX is proud to announce ongoing visual effects for upcoming Lionsgate release “NOW YOU SEE ME.” Featuring one of the biggest ensemble casts since Oceans 11, Now You See Me stars, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Common. The film follows a team of illusionists that through the cover of their performances pull off bank heists. Needless to say it doesn’t take long for the FBI to catch on and pursue them throughout this action adventure. BAKED FX was tasked with a wide range of shots ranging from face replacements to digital manipulation of magic effects. Slated for a June 7th release, we think this movie looks amazing!!

Less than one year from it’s Tribeca Film Festival premiere, Struck by Lightning is now in theaters. The movie can be found in most major cities and has already released on VOD to overwhelming response and demand. Our work began in the summer of 2011 and 40+ shots later we wrapped up by the start of 2012. Our work covers a wide array of methodologies from basic comp and clean up to a complex CG shot consisting of intensive fluid effects. The film was a pleasure to be a part of and the filmmakers are some of the kindest and most creative we’ve ever worked with.

Check out Struck by Lightning On Demand (iTunes / Amazon) or by searching for your nearest theater. HBO’s Award Winning Game of Thrones is now in it’s second season and has been keeping us busy since the start of the year. More than 200 shots later we are now wrapping up the last few episodes and are already reminiscing about what an amazing adventure it’s been. While not presently able to divulge the type of work we’ve been doing we can say that it’s been a very diverse variety of methodologies and an extensive amount of compositing.

Filmed across the world and posted in no less than three countries the show is a monumental feat of logistics. It’s been simply amazing to have been a part and has been a great tribute to our quality of work contributing to a breathtakingly beautiful show. It’s been absolute privilege to be a part of and we’ll all be sad when it comes to an end.

Check back soon for examples and breakdowns of what we’ve done.

What do LeBron James & BAKED FX have in common? While we may not be able to hold our own on the court, we do have VFX skills that were able to help LeBron deliver his message in the latest State Farm commercial “Wake Up”. Created by “26 Seconds”, a campaign launched by State Farm and the U.S. Department of Education, the hope of the commercial is to inspire kids to stay in high school and raise graduation rates across the country.

In “Wake Up” a high school kid quickly realizes the impact a “snooze button” can have on the rest of his life. While a few extra hours of sleep may seem more enticing than school, hitting the “snooze button” quickly sucks him into a quickly paced nightmare of what his future may turn into without a high school diploma. KIDS STAY IN SCHOOL TO BE COOL!

Every shot in the :30 spot was touched in one way or another with a bulk of the work being the bedroom composites. All the beds and backgrounds were shot as separate greenscreen elements to allow both the actor “drop” and “pull through” mechanisms to operate with adequate space around them. Kudos to the art department for rigging such a successful gag and many thanks to Radical Media, director Dave Meyers and the whole team at Translation for our involvement in this uniquely creative and inspiring campaign.
Beyond the holiday’s tradition of pilgrims & pumpkin pies, Lady Gaga returned to continue her tradition of working with our team. What Gaga gig was it this time? Her record breaking ABC special “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving”. With approximately 300+ shots and eight days to deliver, 16 artists worked tirelessly day and night to complete all the visual effects and graphics needed. Although our ping-pong table was spooky silent all sacrifice proved worthy in the end. These wins for the video are especially gratifying given how hard everyone worked to get it completed. The project required flying part of the BAKED FX team to NYC for nearly 3 weeks and renting all our equipment locally. Artists worked on average 16-18 hours a day out of their hotel rooms and sometimes even with Gaga at their side. BIG shout out to David Moquay, Loic Maes, Kyle Belko, Ryan Egan, Stefan Moore, Drew Arnold and Lee Grambush for their tireless efforts and unrelenting commitment to see it through.

Despite the pain and exhaustion it was a fascinating experience that brings with it a lifetime of great memories.
